How to direct connect XLX204 in DMR or C4FM mode

Eight AMBE-Vocoders support Multi Mode [X]Cross on XLX204

Only use DMR and C4FM on XLX204

XLX007 - XLX088 - XLX089 - XLX444 - XLX717 - don't have local AMBE-Vocoders

Module/Room B (Nederland) is intended to be only used in D-Star mode

C4FM mode (YSF-Reflector or Wires-X node)

Wires-X on XLX204 acts as an YSF Master, which provides 26 Wires-X rooms: 00001(=A) to 00026(=Z)

Z* - default YSF/Wires-X module/Room (check  Repeaters / Nodes).   Default Node Tx/Rx frequency is set to 434.412500 MHz

Just choose XLX204 (Id: 62862) as YSF Reflector / Startup Host.

An XLX-reflector acts as one YSF-reflector. So only one mudule can be set as the default module to connect to in YSF.
For XLX204 that default module is Z

XLX204 acts as a Wires-X node.
The Hotspot Tx and Rx frequency must be set to the node frequency (= 434.412500 MHz for XLX204).

On the set:

  • Press the Wires-X button to connect XLX204
  • Press All to get room list (module A .. module Z)

Pi-Star/mmdvmhost will not change the frequency of the set to 434.4125 MHz.

Pi-Star/mmdvmhost version 4.1.0 or newer

Switch on YSF mode (and Apply Changes).
In the Yaesu Sytem Fusion Configuration section select YSF62862 - XLX204 - room Z Wires-X reflector

Switch on WiresX Passtrough

Pi-Star/mmdvmhost before 4.1.0

YSF-Gateway will NOT passthrough Wires-X commands (so YSF-GW must be bypassed).
First go to Configuration and Enable YSF mode (and Apply Changes).
Then, to bypass the gateway, edit mmdvmhost - (in Pi-Star go to: Confuguration >> Expert >> MMDVMHOST)

Find the [System Fusion Network] section and change it to:

To put back (revert to) the default YSF-Gateway operation:

OpenSpot (and other none mmdvmhost)

Set Tx/Rx frequency to 434.412500 MHz

Set System Fusion/YSFReflector credentials:

  • Server: XLX204
  • Server address:
  • Port: 42001

On the set:

  • Press the Wires-X button to connect XLX204
  • Press All to get room list (module A .. module Z)

DMR mode

Pi-Star/mmdvmhost (DMRGateway)

Activate DMRGateway as DMR Master [ Apply Changes ]

Set in the XLX section:

  • XLX Master: XLX_204
  • XLX Startup Module: Z
  • XLX Master Enable: On
  • DMR EmbeddedLCOnly: On
  • DMR DumpTAData: On

In DMRGateway you may also Enable BrandMeister Network and/or Enable DMR+ Network.

DMRGateway routes trafic to the specific network based on TG-number (TG 6 goes to XLX).

On the set - to communicate:

  • Use TG 6 (groupcall) on your set

TG 6 makes DMRGateway route to XLX.

Change module:

  • make a privatecall (just PTT) to 640xx on TG 6
    where xx is 01 for A .. 26 for Z
  • privatecall (just PTT) to 64000 on TG 6 to unlink module

OpenSpot (and other none mmdvmhost)

Settings tab:

DMR settings

  • Color code: (set your hotspot color code)

Modem tab:

  • Modem: DMR Hotspot

Connectors tab:

  • Connector: Homebrew/MMDVM
  • Protocol: MMDVM
  • Server: XLX204
  • DMR ID: your Id - without ESSID (two extra digits)
  • Server password: Passw0rd

On the set - to communicate:

  • Use same color code as set in OpenSpot DMR settings
  • Use TG 9 - local (groupcall)

Change module:

  • Unlink: make a privatecall (just PTT) to 4000 on TG 9
  • Use TG 40xx (Group call) to connect to module xx
    where xx is 01 for module A .. 26 for module Z
